Our Weekend (Aug. 27/28)

Well we’ve seen the last weekend of August which means we’re headed into September already!  In my mind that leads me to thoughts of Fall–my favorite season of the year.

Traditionally, Aaron and I take our oldest nephew to the pumpkin patch in the Fall.  We also love to color Halloween pictures with him or make decorations, pop popcorn and watch movies on gloomy days, bake, etc.

Last year was special because we had a two new additions to join in on the festivities (our God daughter, Delia and second nephew, Lalito) which made it all the more fun.  I was also pregnant last year and that kept Aaron and I dreaming of the year to come, as we’d be able to bring our little one along for all the fun!

With all that said, I’m sure you can guess that we are excited to get started with the Fall fun, especially this year, as it will be Macario’s first! It seems that the stores are just as excited as we are because they’ve already begun to put out their seasonal goodies!

Those goodies include Halloween costumes! I admit I fell victim to the store’s enticing displays while out shopping this weekend. I just couldn’t resist the temptation to purchase a costume for Macario! Yes, I realize it's a bit early for that, but I couldn’t help myself. Plus, I grew up in a household of 7, so in my mind, if you want something you better get it now because before you know it, it will be gone!

But, I digress. The point is we have his costume and are looking forward to seeing him all dressed up in it! He’s going to be a monkey, and a very cute one if I do say so myself!

I also picked up a “Raspberry” teether for our little guy.  I had never seen a “Raspberry” before and was intrigued by it’s appearance.  In an ideal world I would have taken the time to read reviews or do a little research before buying it since I had never heard of a “Raspberry,” but I’m desperate to find a good teether for him. He still has a hard time getting other teethers in his little baby mouth, so when I saw the Raspberry and it’s nubby little bulb in the shape of a pacifire I didn’t hesitate to buy it.  I decided it was the perfect shape and would really help him scratch the teething itch.  And since it’s the shape of a pacifire, it’s easy for babies to handle which is an added bonus!

This weekend, Macario demonstrated an attachment to one of his toys for the first time.  He was given a soft and floppy stuffed puppy by a co-worker of mine and he just loves the little thing.  He played with it all of Saturday morning, but I hadn’t realized how much he liked it until I picked it up to hand to him and he gasped with excitement!  It was the cutest thing ever.  So, we toted the puppy around town with us all weekend.  He gnawed on his ears, spit up on his head and used him as a back support while he sat in the cart at the grocery store (his first time sitting in the cart, BTW).  I’d say that puppy is his best friend and the best friend there is, but Puppy needs a bath already!
What is really cute is that, Aaron is looking forward to buying Macario his first puppy when he is 5 and so if he remains attached to this stuffed puppy it will be even more exciting when he realizes he’s going to transition from a stuffed puppy to a real puppy some day!

Oh!  I forgot to mention that the three of us had lunch with one of Aaron’s athlete’s on Saturday afternoon.  I’m reminded of it, because we saw the exact puppy Aaron wants to get for Macario while we were at lunch.  The picture below isn’t the one we saw, but it is the same breed–teacup Yorkie.  They are adorable puppies.  My first dog was a Yorkie and I loved her.
And, as usual, Macario was an angel in church.  During mass he quietly babbled and smiled at all the people around us.  He exchanged peace offerings with everyone around and when mass was over everyone told me how beautiful and well-behaved he was.  I have to say, hearing those things about your child never gets old!

All in all I’d say it’s another great weekend under our belts!
